Learn How To Play Poker Tips

If you want to gamble, poker is your best option. You can win some serious money playing poker online. But you have to follow the unwritten rules of poker. This means that you do not go into the game willy- nilly and think that you can just win on luck. There is an element of luck in the game as to the cards which you are dealt, but for the most part, this is a game of skill.

Unlike other casino games, in poker you play against other people instead of the house. Your odds are great as someone actually has to win. Someone does not have to win at slots, roulette, craps, blackjack or other games. Someone has to win at poker, so it might as well be you.

First rule - never stay in a game if you have a pair of 10s or less. You are not going to win. One of the mistakes that people make is that they have a problem folding. Fold if you have less than a pair because chances are whoever wins that hand is going to have more than a pair of 10s.

Second rule - stay away from booze. Your opponents would love to see you drunk. Unless you are trying to imitate Paul Newman in "The Sting" and pretend to be rip roaring drunk in order to throw your opponents off their game, booze is not a good idea. It impairs your judgment. And you need good judgment when playing cards.

Third rule - poker opponents are not your friends. If you want friends, join a club somewhere. If you want to win at poker, treat your opponents with respect, be pleasant, but remember that you have conflicting desires. They want to win and so do you. And since you would probably want the winner to be you, you really cannot be bosom buddies with the people with whom you are playing poker.

Fourth rule - keep your countenance even throughout the game. This means that if you grow suddenly silent after being an annoying chatterbox throughout the game, someone will know that something is up. You can hear them all folding. Ever wonder why player wear glasses...To hide their eyes. Those windows of the soul will give you away all of the time. For this reason, playing poker online is easier than in person. Always keep the same personality spark alive. This means that if you are dull throughout the game, do not become suddenly friendly and lively if you are dealt a Royal and vice versa.

Fifth rule - play limit games. You are better off to play limit games and tournaments so that you can only lose so much money. One of the biggest mistakes people make is that they keep tossing money into a game when it is clear they are on a losing streak. Do not be afraid to walk away if you keep losing. You can always come back.

Poker involves skill unlike any other game you find in a casino. If you follow simple rules and learn to master these skills, you can make a fortune.
