The advantage to playing poker online is that the games tend to move slower than regular casino games. This gives you time to think about your next move, an option that is actually crucial in poker. You can beat your online poker opponent if you know the game, have a set strategy and are prepared to follow the strategy.

Before playing for money, make sure that you have played in the online casino for free so that you have a feel of how the game moves. You cannot win any money when you play online for free, but this is good practice. Some online casinos have practice rooms where you can better experience the online game before you put out any money.

Never allow your opponent to either toss you out of the game when you are holding a good hand (a full house or better) or sucker you in to staying when you have nothing (less than a pair of jacks),. If you are playing Texas Holdem, be aware of who is going in and out and also be very well aware that there are four of a kind in each deck. With Texas Holdem, a pair is generally not going to win the game so unless you have a straight or better, drop.
